Covid restrictions on large gatherings have been lifted in Scotland as cases of the deadly virus remain high across the country.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced last week the limit on 500 people at outdoor events would come to an end on Monday, January 17.

Limits on attendance at indoor events, the requirement to socially distance in public indoor places and the need for table service in pubs and restaurants is expected to be lifted next week with an announcement made in parliament tomorrow.

The lifting of restrictions, which have been in place since Boxing Day, means the Scottish Premiership game between Celtic and Hibernian at Parkhead tonight can be held in front of a capacity crowd.
