Covid infection rates update for all 32 Scots councils as 7,275 new cases recorded

A further 7,275 Covid cases have been confirmed in Scotland within the last 24 hours.Figures have been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.Nationally, there are 904 patients with the disease being treated in hospital which is a reduction of 30 from yesterday's reported figure.

There are currently 19 people being treated in ICUs.The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has increased by 435.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 88,923 positive tests in the region and 1,283,259 million across Scotland.A note within today's data sheets also explains: "From February 10, the cumulative number of cases includes Covid-19 cases confirmed by either a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test."Because the policy change to include LFD results occurred on January 5, this results in a one-off large increase as the LFD cases in the intervening period are accounted for."Of the new cases reported, 159 were in East Ayrshire, 144 attributed to North Ayrshire and 132 in South Ayrshire.As a result of the historical update in terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, the Shetland Islands has the highest rate in the country – at 1,613.5 as of Wednesday, February 9.Dundee City has the second-highest infection rate at 1,146.4 while Aberdeen City is third with 1,126.8.In terms of Ayrshire's thee local authorities, East Ayrshire has the highest rate of 667.8; North Ayrshire's rate stands at 594.4 while South Ayrshire's is 581.4.A total of 21 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national
