A frontline consultant has described the 'intense fear' he has witnessed in the eyes of Covid-19 patients in the minutes before they are ventilated.

Dr Richard Cree, who is working in intensive care at James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire has given a heartbreaking account of what it is like for those who are put to sleep knowing there's a chance they may never wake up.
