Maternity clothing was ugly and impractical AF. Like, why were there so many ruffles and bows, when many women preferred basics like a chic button down and jeans?“I was intrigued, and anticipating needing maternity clothes myself soon-ish, so I did a deep dive into the market for pregnancy clothing,” she tells Glamour. “I noticed a shift in the needs of the pregnant customer, who was a little bit older and more established in their work life than previous generations of mothers had been.
There was a unique opportunity in my mind to create something for women today that could help expecting moms transition more easily into parenthood without compromising their sense of style and self.”This idea soon blossomed into , a maternity clothes company she founded alongside Grace Kapin in 2014.
