A couple who went searching for a forever home in the countryside had their dreams 'ruined' by a small town 'with everything'.

Pauline and David, from High Wycombe, appeared on a recent episode of BBC's Escape to the Country, a property show which sees the hosts help people living in the city move out to the country.

The TV programme saw the pair set on moving to west Wales back in 2018 to find a rural retreat with a budget of £325,000. They wanted to find somewhere with a garage and workshop for David and somewhere with contemporary interior and period charm for Pauline.

The search began with presenter Alistair Appleton taking them to see their first property in Wolfscastle and the show was almost over before it has begun, as the couple were instantly captivated by the characterful cottage, from its beautiful interiors to the country views.
