Couple 'laughed at' for buying 'fixer-upper' house branded too big a job to transform

A young couple have admitted they were 'laughed at' by family and friends for purchasing a house they were told would be 'too big' a job to transform it into a home.

Amy Wright, 24, and partner David Lavery, 25, ignored doubters, quickly purchased the property and now plan to move in before the end of the year.The pair have been searching for a home to call their own amidst a currently turbulent property market.

After having no luck with new builds the couple decided to try their luck by searching for an older property to transform into a home, reports the Liverpool Echo.In their search for a fixer-upper they stumbled upon a house in Liverpool, which the couple immediately knew 'was the one'.

However, the estate agent listing the property was due to close for the weekend.Not wishing to waste any time on securing the house, Amy, who is a fitness instructor, quickly called them up.
