A couple living in their car claim the council and their local MP have left them homeless and separated from their young son.

Shaun and Hayley Cottis, both 43, say they were told to take out a loan for a deposit on an unaffordable property in Golden Green, near Tonbridge.

Despite making clear they would be unable to keep up the £1,400 monthly rent, the couple claim the council forced them to take it, landing them immediately in arrears.

The Cottis' credit rating has since taken a hit after they were handed a debt relief order and an individual voluntary arrangement - a form of payback agreement.
