Countryfile star Sammi Kinghorn has wonderful childhood memories of living on a rural family farm in the Scottish borders. Whilst her mum Elaine wanted to put her in pretty dresses, she was more interested in learning the family trade - donning overalls and following her dad, Neil, around the farm.
By ten years old, she was working in the manning shed and even knew how to perform a caesarean on a ewe. Her dream was to become a zoologist.
But, on December 2, 2010, her life changed forever as she suffered a devastating injury, aged 14, that would change her life forever.
Now 27, Sammi, who is a Scottish World Champion wheelchair racer, has opened up about the shocking incident as she described the moment she thought she would die.The family farm had been hit by heavy snowfall and she recalled her dad being "overwhelmed" as animals were dying and people who lived by in rural cottages weren't able to leave to get their shopping.
