Countdown star Rachel Riley says she endured a torrent of hate and a “concerted” effort to get her sacked after a spat with an aide to Jeremy Corbyn.
The TV maths whizz is suing Laura Murray for labelling her “dangerous” and “stupid” in a tweet. Ms Riley, 35, told the High Court of an “onslaught of abuse” and she had taken steps to improve “personal and home security”.
The row erupted in March 2019 after Mr Corbyn was egged by a Brexit supporter. Ms Riley quoted writer Owen Jones saying of a similar attack on former BNP leader Nick Griffin: “If you don’t want eggs thrown at you, don’t be a Nazi.” She added: “Good advice”, along with red rose and egg emojis.
