Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has opened up about the difficult side of fame after admitting she was subjected to vile fat-shaming by online trolls.

The actress has played Fiz Stape on the ITV soap for a whopping 17 years, with breaks away from the screen during her maternity leave and while she was in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.

And now the 36-year-old has candidly told OK! magazine of her struggles with trolling, and recalled a time in her life when it was impossible to ignore it.

When asked if she's experienced trolling, she told the mag: "Yes I have. Things like, 'you’re fat' and 'you can’t act'." And the soap star revealed that when she returned from maternity leave, the welcome she received from viewers was far from what
