Ian Bartholomew was met with a chorus of approval after his character Geoff Metcalfe fell to his death after rooftop drama in Coronation Street.
On the 60th anniversary of the ITV soap, there was no better way to mark the occasion than by killing off 'repugnant' Geoff, who has been hailed as one of the darkest villains to have graced the cobbled street.
The 66-year-old actor picked up Best Villain at the Inside Soap Awards as his character terrorised Yasmeen Nazir in an abusive relationship that led Ian to seek therapy to help him through the scenes with Shelley King, so disturbing were the nature of some of the incidents they portrayed.
