Coronation Street legend Sam Aston has poignantly opened up about the grief of losing two unborn children after his wife Briony suffered two devastating miscarriages.

The 30 year old star, who is best known for playing Chesney Brown in the ITV soap accompanied his wife Briony on Tuesday (August 8), as they appeared on Loose Women to discuss the lasting impact of their heartbreaking experience.

Speaking to host Ruth Langsford about the experience, along with panelists Janet Street-Porter, Frankie Bridge and Linda Robson, Sam confessed that he hadn’t initially realised just how common miscarriages were before Briony had suffered the loss of their unborn children. “I felt a bit naive, because I didn’t realise it was so common,” admitted Sam, before going on to reveal that although he hadn’t understood the physical side of the experience, he had remained a supportive and empathetic rock at his wife’s side. “I can’t really understand in a way, because it’s not my body that went through it all, but just being there to empathise.

I do feel proud that she was able to put it out there, because it opened up a conversation.” The couple bravely opened up about their loss earlier this year, as Briony revealed her loss in an emotional post on Instagram which revealed she had miscarried twice within the space of just four months.
