A coroner was unable to determine whether a woman found at the bottom of her stairs with 53 injuries died as a result of accidents or an assault.

An inquest heard mum of three Tina Cartlidge, 59, had previously suffered violent abuse at the hands of her husband during their marriage.

On April 7, 2020 she was sadly found dead at the bottom of her stairs. Her husband Paul was arrested the same day on suspicion of murder.

He was later released without charge, reports StokeOnTrentLive. The next morning Paul found Tina still at the bottom of the stairs after 'hearing a loud bang' and 'knew straightaway she was dead'.
