Working from home could become the new normal for million across the UK for a long time to come, the Chief Scientific Advisor has suggested.
Speaking at the press conference where the government confirmed it was extending the UK's lockdown for at least three weeks, Sir Patrick Vallance said that "the way out" of the pandemic was through the development of a vaccine.
But he warned that in the interim we could see changes in how the lockdown was being administered. In his answer Sir Patrick also suggested certain measures - like working from home - could be around for a while.
He said there may be a "number of measures that need to continue in order to allow that to be suppressed and controlled whilst vaccines and therapeutics come along".
