Coronavirus: Why you shouldn't wear protective gloves at supermarket

A doctor has warned that wearing gloves while at the supermarket during coronavirus lockdown could be doing more harm than good.

The surgeon, named Dr Karan Raj, posted a video on Tik Tok explaining "why you don't need to wear gloves when you go out" as many people opt for drastic protective gear.

Using a pen, he draws on his blue surgical gloves showing how germs can build up as you touch trolleys, handles, baskets and self-service checkout machines.

He explains the longer you wear the gloves the more germs they come into contact with which can be easily transferred to your steering wheel, phone, or when accidentally touching your face. "Your glove is now more full of germs than your hand would have been if you had washed each time," he
