The UK's coronavirus death toll has increased by 498 in the last 24 hours but the number of fresh infections has continued a downward trend.
There were 17,555 new cases of Covid-19 recorded today, with a UK total of 1,574,562. Last Thursday 22,915 new infections were recorded and there were 501 deaths.
That compares with a month ago, on October 26 when there there were 276 deaths and 20,890 cases. There is hope UK infections are now trending downward.
England comes out of its national lockdown next week. This morning it was confirmed which areas of England would be placed into which local restrictions: Tier 1, 2 or 3.
