Coronavirus Scotland: 50 more people die from virus as hospital death toll hits 1,912

A total of 1,912 people have died in Scotland’s hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus - a rise of 50. A further 136 Scots have tested positive for Covid-19 which takes the total number of confirmed cases to 13,763.

The number of confirmed or suspected cases currently being treated in hospital is 1618, a rise of 165. While 81 people are being treated in intensive care, a rise of one.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the new figures at her daily press briefing at St Andrew’s House in Edinburgh on Tuesday.

Sturgeon last night thanked Scots for their tireless efforts to beat the virus and stressed that progress was being made thanks to people staying at home.
