Roger Federer will consider boycotting the French Open and opening a huge rift in tennis after the clay-court Grand Slam was shifted to September.
And the USTA – the organisers of the US Open – have also launched a barbed attack on the French Tennis Federation for rescheduling the claycourt Grand Slam a week after the US Open.
The new date of September 20 – October 4 clashes with the Laver Cup where Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic have played since it started in 2017.
The Laver Cup – an annual Ryder Cup-style team event between Europe and the Rest of the World – and is run by Federer's management group TEAM8 and is now an officially sanctioned ATP Tour event.
