The latest figures show that case numbers are increasing in almost all parts of north-west England, London and Scotland. Nearly three-quarters of UK areas (283 out of a total of 380) recorded a week-on-week rise in Covid-19 case rates for the seven days to June 2 - the highest proportion since January 6.
In just under half of those places (134), the rise was small enough to be in single figures. However, it appears that the rise in infection rates is yet to be mirrored by an increase in hospital admissions.
