coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Scotland over the last 24 hours. The Scottish Government also announced that 1,865 new cases of COVID-19 were reported overnight, taking the total figure to 147,889.
1,596 people are in hospital being treated for the deadly virus, while 109 people remain in intensive care. Since the start of the pandemic in March last year a total of 4,965 people have died after returning a positive test.
The news came on the day The Record revealed that two supermarket workers died amid fears over a coronavirus outbreak at a Tesco store.
A man and woman who worked at a Covid-hit Greenock store in Inverclyde are understood to have passed away within days of each other.Colleagues are said to have been left.
