Coronation Street is set to shake things up with a fresh new shop gracing the cobbles, waving goodbye to a classic landmark.
Fans of the iconic soap will soon catch a glimpse of a familiar high-street name making its home on the street as part of an update to the on-screen set.Throughout its history, the ITV favourite has welcomed several real-life brands through product placement deals, bringing the likes of Co-Op and Costa Coffee into the heart of Weatherfield's drama Earlier this year, news broke that Coronation Street was "parting ways" with Co-Op, leading to much speculation about what would fill the retail space next.
And now it appears the wait is over as the new addition has been unveiled: Sainsbury's and Argos are moving in! On Monday, 15 April, Argos and ITV announced they're renewing their headline sponsorship deal, and not just that, a combined Sainsbury's and Argos storefront will now also be joining the Victoria Street scene.
Argos will nestle within a Sainsbury's store, and it's not just for show as Sainsbury's bags for life and an array of products from the supermarket giant will become part of the everyday lives of Weatherfield's beloved characters, reports the Daily Star.
