Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has been a staple of the ITV soap for 32 years but some fans may be surprised to hear that the Steve McDonald actor’s last name is actually Gregory.

As Simon reportedly prepares to join the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Cast later this year, it may come as a shock to viewers that his full name is actually Simon Alan Gregory.

When Gregson first made his way onto our screens in 1986 at the age of 15, he was credited under the name of Gregory. But as the actor joined the actor’s union a year later at 16, he was informed he would have to change it as no two performers were allowed to use the same name.
