Coronation Street star's long-term future on ITV soap is revealed

Get Me Out Of Here!The actor travelled to South Africa's Kruger National Park to film the spin-off last October, but endured a miserable seven day spell in camp before leaving with former Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo on Monday evening.
Whyment, 42, has since outlined his long-term career plans and admits he has no desire to quit his role as affable Corrie regular Kirk Sutherland any time soon.
The actor, who made his first appearance on the ITV1 soap in 2000, told The Sun: 'I’ve seen a lot of people come and go, thinking they’re going to go on to bigger and better things but Corrie for me is my number one, it always has and always will be. 'I grew up watching it as a kid and when I drive up to those barriers in the morning and they lift them up, I think "I'm still working on Coronation Street". ' He added: 'If I’d told myself growing up I’d be there 23 years, it’s amazing and touch wood many more years to come. 'I have a great work life balance, I go in, do my job and I love the banter that we have on set and long may it continue. ' Whyment and fellow campmate Toffolo were eliminated on Monday evening after failing their latest challenge, but viewers were less than impressed with their departure.
