Coronation Street actress Sue Nicholls has opened up on her fears over her ITV character Audrey Roberts being cut from the popular soap when it emerged her on-screen son Stephen Reid was a cold-blooded killer. It comes as Todd Boyce reprised the role of the character last year, 15 years after he was last seen on the cobbles.
Stephen has left chaos in his wake ever since claiming three victims in total - Leo Thompkins, his dad Teddy and businessman Rufus Donahue.ITV soap fans are also concerned he has bumped off fan-favourite Tim Metcalfe before his own exit from the show as they prepare for his dramatic climax scenes later this week as viewers wait to see if he escapes justice for his crimes. When actress Sue was quizzed on it being the end of the road for Audrey due to Stephen becoming a villain, Sue told Manchester Evening News: "Yes I did, I think we all thought that we could be at risk.

"I do love that feeling of everyone being involved," the 79-year-old shared. "The cast is very big these days so I don’t often get to work with a lot of them and particularly in the past few years we have all been very much with our immediate group of characters."
