Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd reveals that he ruined chance at Hollywood success

Jack P Shepherd is famed for playing menacing David Platt on Coronation Street - a role he bagged at the age of 12. And now the soap sensation, 33, has revealed that he missed out on a chance of Hollywood success as a youngster due to flopping during an audition for the mega movie hit of Billy Elliot - which was released in 2000, the same year he made his first appearance on the cobbles.

The famous part was won by Jamie Bell - who picked up a BAFTA for the movie - and he has gone on to have a hugely successful career in Tinseltown.
