The actress was revealed as one of the famous faces who will be taking to the ballroom floor this autumn when the BBC One dance contest returns to screens.
She is known for having played Corrie's Faye Windass on the ITV soap for 12 years, with the character leaving the famous street earlier this year.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast as her signing was announced, Ellie said: "Obviously it was really emotional, my last day [on Corrie], but I think the fact that I came out of Corrie and now I’m doing Strictly… I could never have imagined that this would have happened and I’m so, so grateful."
