Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank is currently involved in a massive storyline which has seen his character Billy Mayhew discover that partner Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Speaking to Metro. co. uk at the British Soap Awards, Daniel candidly discussed his own family connection to the disease, and why it was so important for Corrie to cover the topic. ‘It’s a very personal subject to me.
My grandfather died of motor neurone disease so there is always an importance to handle a storyline with truth and integrity, but for me on this one, it feels even bigger.
Daniel revealed that he spoke to his family before tackling the storyline in order to get their permission to tell their personal storyline.
