Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, who played the iconic Hayley Cropper on the ITV soap for 16 years, has praised her husband for his handling of the sensitive acid attack storyline.
Julie's husband is Corrie scriptwriter Ian Kershaw, who wrote all the scenes for both of Monday night's harrowing instalments.The 53 year old actress gushed over her husband's talents on Twitter. "Away from home and only able to watch clips of tonight’s #Corrie, written by my incredible husband @IanKershaw," she began. "Weeping in a park in America.
Outstanding work from cast and crew and director and Kersh. "Just phenomenal," the actress added. As the monumental plot kicked off, Ian himself shared his excitement with fans, as he tweeted: "I’ve done words for all of tonight’s eps!
And I LOVE every single person who worked on them! "EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM #Corrie." The writer later thanked all the fans who watched the episodes and for posting their "kind words". "I LOVE every single person who worked on these episodes - what a team, what a show!" he continued, teasing that the difficult story continues on throughout the rest of the week.
