Fans of the ITV soap saw the character have an emotional Christmas Day - and birthday - as he watched his mother Gail Platt marry Jesse Chadwick before saying goodbye as the newlyweds drove off into the sunset to start a new life in the South of France.
But amidst the family celebrations and tearful farewell, Corrie viewers also saw David return to his old ways as he tricked Adam Barlow into drinking with him as he accused him of having an affair with his wife, Shona Platt.
They then took the matter outside the flat and drunk, Adam fell down the stairs with Shona and Sarah Platt finding him at the bottom with bloody injuries.
