ITV is reportedly planning a return to filming amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Head of studios Kevin Lygo has revealed Corrie's rural sister soap Emmerdale could be off-air by the end of May, followed by Coronation Street at some point in June.
Speaking to press at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2020 Mr Lygo has addressed the subject of making new episodes, reports the Mirror - and it sounds like some of the older cast such as William Roache, 88, might be absent.
He said: "I don’t want Ken Barlow to get sick." It is understood that any return to filming would take into account government guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
