Police stormed the city centre after a substance was 'thrown at a bus driver'. Officers descended on the Piccadilly Gardens bus driver at 2.20pm this afternoon (August 8) following reports of an assault.
The Manchester Evening News understands that a liquid was thrown towards a bus driver. The liquid was later tested and found not to be corrosive or noxious.
It's understood the driver pulled away from Piccadilly Gardens following the incident, before coming to a stop on Portland Street.
A police cordon was in place around a Stagecoach bus, parked outside the Manchester One office block, between Chorlton Street and Sackville Street.
