Cops have confirmed a body pulled from the River Thames this week is the chemical attacker Abdul Ezedi.Ezedi hurled a corrosive chemical at a woman and her two children in Clapham last month before going on the run.
The 35-year-old suffered severe burns of his own during the attack, which affected eight people in total. He was last seen near Chelsea Bridge as a huge manhunt was launched to find him.Earlier this month, on Friday, February 9, police revealed they thought that Ezedi had jumped into the Thames around four hours after the attack, involving an alkaline substance.
Yesterday, officers said that a body found on Tuesday was “strongly” believed to be him, and confirmed so today, reports the Mirror. The corpse was recovered by the Met’s Marine Policing Unit and has been viewed by detectives working on the probe.
It was first spotted at around 4pm on Monday February, 19, by the crew of a passing boat, near Tower Pier. Footage of the body being recovered was captured by a passer-by.
