An urgent search for the baby of aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner Mark Gordon has moved into its third day amid growing police fears that the child may have come to harm.
The pair - who went missing after their car was found burning on the M61 in Bolton in January - were further arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter on Tuesday (February 28) after being stopped in Brighton on Monday following several weeks of avoiding the police.
However, the baby was not with them. A member of the public, who had seen media reports about the couple, phoned 999 after seeing them withdraw cash from a convenience store in Hollingbury Place shortly before 9.30pm on Monday.
Officers arrived six minutes later, with Marten and Gordon being detained at nearby Stanmer Villas and arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
