Irishman McGregor, a former UFC World Champion and a well-known United supporter, sent fans wild when he tweeted about buying the club on the day Ed Woodward resigned as executive vice-chairman and United withdrew from the European Super League.
He tweeted: “Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying Manchester United! What do you think?” Since then, fans have made their feelings towards the Glazer family, who own United, perfectly clear.
