Conor McGregor makes Freudian slip in seven-word tactical plan for Dustin Poirier trilogy

Conor McGregor believes he knows how to avenge his defeat by Dustin Poirier - by checking his rival's leg kicks. McGregor was KO'd by Poirier in January as the American avenged his own defeat by the Irishman in 2014.

In the rematch, McGregor was unable to combat Poirier's savage kicks to his opponent's calf and he was eventually dropped and stopped.

The pair are in negotiations over a third fight in either May or July - and McGregor has defence on his mind. "Guys I'm gonna cheque the leg kick," he tweeted on Tuesday night.

When it was pointed out to the former two-weight world champion that the word is 'check', he said: "I spell it cheques". Poirier then responded by joking: "I'm not throwing kicks, just headbutts next time out." McGregor
