Conor McGregor has announced his retirement from MMA, with the former two-weight UFC champion declaring: 'What a ride it's been'.

The Irishman dropped the bombshell on Twitter immediately after Amanda Nunes defeated Felicia Spencer to retain her featherweight title at UFC 250 in Las Vegas McGregor posted a picture of himself and his mum celebrating one of his world title wins as he announced he was hanging up his gloves.

He tweeted: "Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. "Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it's been! "Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins!
