He might be one of the country’s best known comics who has made his name sending up our politicians and celebs but it still didn’t mean the banks trusted Oliver Callan with a mortgage.
Callan, the man behind RTE radio’s Callan’s Kicks who has more recently landed his own TV gig, but even still he struggled to get a loan.
The 40-year-old says he’d been renting in Dublin for 22 years and had become weary of having to move house all of the time so he made the grown-up decision to try and buy a house with his partner John.
In an interview with the Irish Independent, the razor-sharp comic admitted he was embarrassed to say he had managed to buy a house in the past year because he knew so many of his friends were struggling to get on the property
