John Bishop paid tribute to his wife Melanie as they celebrated 30 years of marriage on Monday. The Liverpudlian comedian wed his other half in 1993 and welcomed three sons in the first six years of their marriage.
Previously, Bishop revealed that his comedy career was born during an 18-month separation from Melanie, citing that they had “grown apart” at the time.
Reflecting on his first comedy gig to the Big Issue in 2004, Bishop said: “I was as miserable as sin at the time because I was going through a rocky period in my marriage, so it was either a lap dancing bar or a comedy club, so I went to the Frog and Bucket. ”He later told The Mirror in 2014 that it was that comedy gig that helped bring him and Melanie back together again.
He added: “We met up after the show and she said seeing me up there reminded her of me as I used to be. When I was a good laugh. ”Following that fateful show, the couple — who are now based in rural Cheshire — are stronger than ever as they marked their 30th wedding anniversary on Instagram.
