St Mirren heading for their fifth consecutive draw, the former Huddersfield striker made his return from injury as a second half substitute to play a key role in his new club’s winner.

The striker went down under pressure late on from Ross County defender Leo Hjelde to earn the Paisley club a spot kick, which was emphatically dispatched by Jamie McGrath to seal a vital three points that helped St Mirren further strengthen their grip on sixth spot.

Fuming Staggies boss John Hughes accused the forward of conning the referee after Saturday’s eventful match, but Quaner was adamant there was contact and it was down to referee Greg Aitken to blow the whistle or not.
