With Coleen and Wayne Rooney ’s teenage son already lifting football trophies, the couple are allegedly at odds over the talented youngster’s next steps.
Fourteen-year-old Kai Rooney, the eldest of the couple’s four boys, has been tipped to follow in his father’s legendary footsteps after scoring his own “wonder goal” against Millwall last week, securing his Manchester United Under 14 team the Albert Phelan National Cup.
According to our source, while 38-year-old Coleen and Wayne - who made his professional debut at 16 - are both thrilled for the young teen, they’re on different pages when it comes to the next important decisions about his flourishing career. “Everyone is saying how he is going to be football’s next big thing and could even emulate his dad,” the source claimed to OK!.
And while Wayne and Coleen are both really proud of him, they have different opinions on how his career should be handled, according to the source. "Wayne is happy for him to start playing at 16 professionally like he did but Coleen is a lot more protective and thinks that a lot of Wayne’s issues come from being a star so early.” Former England and Manchester United whizz Wayne, also 38, stepped onto the pitch for Everton as a baby-faced 16 year old back in summer 2002 after being signed by his favourite club eight years earlier.
