Aaron Brown has passed away at 76. The former CNN anchor led the network’s NewsNight program from 2001 to 2005 and he was an influential part of CNN’s coverage of the September 11 attacks. Brown‘s first appearance on CNN actually happened on September 11, 2001 as the network needed extra presence on that day, even though he wasn’t scheduled to start work yet.

He was live on air for 17 hours that day. After his time on CNN, Brown was the host of PBS’ Wide Angle. Brown‘s death was confirmed by his family to CNN, but no cause of death was given.

He passed away on Sunday (December 29) at the age of 76. We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Aaron Brown’s loved ones during this difficult time. We’ve sadly lost many people in 2024.
