Clyde have turned to former Partick Thistle and Dundee United boss Ian McCall in their search for a new manager. The Bully Wee have been on the hunt for a new boss since Brian McLean was sacked last month and it has proved to be a frustrating search.East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy was approached about the position, which he has turned down after being given last week to consider switching the Lowland League for League Two.

And Lanarkshire Live Sport understands former Queen of the South gaffer and ex-Kilmarnock James Fowler was among those also considered for the role, as well as Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell.

But Clyde are now keen to make McCall their man ahead of Saturday's big clash with fellow strugglers East Fife.It is understood McCall was 'sounded out' about the position very early in the process and was their number one choice from the beginning.McCall has been out of work since February when he was surprisingly sacked by Partick in the aftermath of an impressive Scottish Cup performance against Rangers, which saw the Jags lead 1-0 before falling to a battling 3-2 defeat at Ibrox. He would bring undoubted SPFL experience to the role as Clyde look to haul themselves off the foot of the League Two table, where they are a point adrift of Elgin City, having played a game more.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
