Clyde chairman Allan Maitland has set a top-four League Two target for the team this season, and has urged fans to literally buy into improving Ian McCall’s team.In a lengthy interview with club media, Maitland revealed that 15 players have been signed up for next season already, including nine of McCall’s squad from the season just past.Maitland says Clyde are too big a club to be languishing in League Two – and narrowly avoided dropping into the Pyramid play-off – and is keen to make their way up the divisions. But Maitland believes that will come at a cost, which supporters will feel when buying strips and season tickets – which he urges fans to do in their droves. When asked what the on-field target is for this season, Maitland said: “It’s top four.“I’m going to work on ‘top four’ and if that means we’re promoted on the back of the play-offs or we win the league, that’s fantastic.“Nine of those players are already signed up again for next season.“Not being in the play-offs was fantastic for us, massive, it gave us a chance to deal with Ian right away, a chance for Ian to deal with the players right away, and within three weeks of the season finishing we’ve got 15 players signed.“That’s magnificent compared to where we were last year, especially when you look at the nucleus of that team.“The most important thing is the potential of our football club.

There are going to be lots of changes, but positive changes.“[Not being in the play-offs] is not something to celebrate – this is Clyde Football Club, so as much as the end of the season was great, it’s gone.“Momentum was good at the end of the season, we need to build on that, but we need to make sure that never happens again.
