Congratulations are in order for Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy who has won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role in the Christopher Nolan film.
While 47 year old Cillian tends to keep his home life away from the spotlight, fans caught a glimpse of his life off-screen as he picked up the award, with his longtime wife Yvonne McGuinness congratulating him with a kiss just moments before he headed on stage.
Joking about his wife’s surprise public display of affection, the Irish actor exclaimed: “First question, do I have lipstick all over my nose?” Having been married to artist Yvonne for nearly 20 years, the pair first met back in 1996 while at a gig for Cillian’s former band The Sons of Mr Green Genes, which he formed alongside his brother Páidi. “We did pretty well, but I’m happy it didn’t work out,” he told The Guardian in 2022 when asked about his music career.
Meanwhile, Cillian, who shares sons 18 year old Malachy and Aran, 17, with Yvonne, also used his acceptance speech to pay tribute to his family for supporting him.
