As expected, Christine Romans is joining NBC News after her departure from CNN last summer. Romans will be senior business correspondent based in New York, and will report for NBC News and MSNBC as part of the business and technology unit.
Romans exited CNN in July after 24 years, a tenure that included a sting as anchor of Early Start and as chief business correspondent.
Laura Jarrett, who had been co-anchor on Early Start, left the network last year and joined NBC News. Catherine Kim, senior vice president of NBC News Editorial, announced Romans’ hire in a memo sent to staffers today: All – We are pleased to announce that Christine Romans is joining the Business & Technology Unit starting today, reporting across all platforms of NBC News, including writing for digital and on MSNBC.
As our senior business correspondent based in New York, Christine will cover all aspects of major breaking business news with a core emphasis on the economy – inflation, jobs, wages, debt, the Fed, manufacturing and trade, regional trends, and how it affects the daily lives of Americans across the country.
