Christine McGuinness is taking part in BBC Two’s Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales and has filmed her spiritual journey with fellow celebrities Michaela Strachan, Spencer Matthews, Eshaan Akbar, Amanda Lovett, Tom Rosenthal and Sonali Shah.
She found the experience magical - until she attended the show's press launch and was confronted by a rude heckler who repeatedly shouted out that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was "nonsense" and "a label".The confrontation came about because on the show Christine found a kindred spirit in Friday Night Dinner star Tom Rosenthal, who reminded her of her son Leo.
On camera, she suggests Tom might also have autism. While he has not been diagnosed, Tom says others have said he could be neurodivergent. “As soon as I met Tom, I thought, ‘He’s definitely autistic,’” says Christine. “Being autistic isn’t a bad thing.
