Christian Eriksen has made it clear that he expects to be a regular at Manchester United after signing for the club. United won the race for Eriksen's signature when they made him their second summer signing earlier in July as Erik ten Hag took the first step in enhancing his midfield.

Even though Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek — who can both also occupy playmaker roles — are already at the club. The new manager isn't finished there, either, as he is still pursuing a deal for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, despite all the obstacles to completing the transfer.

If De Jong does arrive, that would add yet another midfield option along with Fred, Scott McTominay and James Garner. That would make plenty of competition for places, but Eriksen has already staked his claim to a regular starting berth. "I don’t come here just for the logo itself, I want to come here and play. So of course, his style of football, I think it suits me." Eriksen has also expressed his desire to be considered amongst the likes of Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona and George Best in United's pantheon of great, creative players as well as end the club's trophy drought. "It’s a club with a lot of history," he said. "A lot of big, big players have been here, and to be on that list, first of all of course I’m here to play and prove that I can be on that list.
