Chrissy Teigen Says She Started 'Spiraling' After a DNA Test Mistakenly Told Her She Had an Identical Twin

Chrissy Teigen recently got some shocking news about her family tree. On Sunday (June 4), the 37-year-old model and author revealed that she briefly thought she had an identical twin after trying the genealogy service 23andMe. Keep reading to find out more… “I paid for some of the upgrades and the first thing that came up after I found out that I was part neanderthal, was this: Identical twin,” she said in a video posted to her Instagram. “That has to be a joke, right?” Chrissy added that she wrote to the company, texted her doctor and ultimately started “spiraling” as she called her father to try and figure out her results. “I’m literally saying, ‘Dad, hey, did you see come out of mom’s vagina and were there two of me?’” she explained. “He starts laughing, saying ‘No, I was there, there are not two of you!’ I was like, ‘Are you sure you were there?’” Next she called her sister, who was equally shocked by the news of her identical twin. “At this point, I’m making excuses for my whole life.

I’m like, ‘This is why I’m so co-dependent, because my twin was ripped away from me! This is why I always felt something missing and this is why I have addition issues,’” Chrissy said. “… I’m like, literally, ‘Holy f–k!’” But her sister pointed out that Chrissy had once appeared on a PBS show called Finding Your Roots, which focuses on celebrity genealogies.

While Chrissy never ended up finishing her episode, she did submit her DNA and had it filed under a “secret name” so as to protect her identity, which is why 23andMe would think she had an identical twin. “My identical twin was myself!” Chrissy said.
