Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Steven Gerrard is a loss to Rangers and he’s a loss to Scottish football. But what an opportunity for the person walking in the door.

Did Gerrard do an outstanding job at Ibrox? No, I wouldn’t say he did. With outstanding backing from Dave King in terms of paying for the recruitment in his early days, he did a good job.

Winning the title last season was massive due to the obvious reasons and he deserved credit for that.But, quite frankly, no trophy out of the other eight available simply wasn’t good enough.

Callum Davidson won more silverware in his first season at St Johnstone than Gerrard did in three at Ibrox. That’s a fact. Brendan Rodgers won seven out of seven.
