China Box Office: ‘Ne Zha 2’ Stays on Top as ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ Opens in Second

Naman Ramachandran China’s box office remained steady over the March 14–16 weekend, with “Ne Zha 2” continuing its dominant run at the top of the charts.

The Cococartoon release grossed RMB 148.3 million ($20.6 million), pushing its cumulative total to $2.064 billion, according to Artisan Gateway.

The animated juggernaut continues to lead the market despite being in its seventh weekend of release. Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 4” debuted in second place with $3.3 million.

The Keanu Reeves-led action franchise has historically performed well in China, though this entry opened to more modest numbers compared to previous Hollywood action releases. “Detective Chinatown 1900,” from As One Production, remained in third place, earning $3 million over the weekend.
